longwave - “sirens of the sea”

i likes me some longwave. i saw them at sxsw w/ ryan & almost shrieked with childlike giddyness when they played “tidalwave”. okay, maybe i *did* shriek. whatever.

wasn’t a big fan of their second album, but this song & the previously leaked single “no direction” seem to be more in line w/ the first album’s musical palette. and to that i say, hooray!

She was a real people-pleaser. She worried way too much what people thought of her, wore her heart on her sleeve, expected too much from people, and got hurt too easily. She kept other people’s secrets like a champ, but told her own too fast. She expected the world not to cheat her and was always surprised when it did.

“i’m not over you/can i get back under?”

ryan commented today that this song (bell x1 - “next to you”) reminds him of pete yorn, whom i love - what? don’t judge me on my penchant for early 2000s floppy haired singer songwriters. now it all makes sense!

Want to save the music business? Manage a band. Nurture talent. Do everything in your power to get it exposed. Don’t sit in front of your computer dreaming of new schemes of distribution… You’ll never get the rights! Talent. That’s where the business is focused today.
