Welcome to Flavor Country: All right, look

flavorcountry:

Does anyone else ever get that thing where if they hear too much about a band, they decide not to listen to that band at all for no good reason other than perverse obstinacy? I confess to experiencing this w/r/t Odd Future. I’ve seen so much commentary about Odd Future on the internet that it’s…

Yes, I do this semi-regularly. Although, lately I will just put said album in my queue on Rdio and “accidentally” (or more so, passively) end up listening to it without knowing I’m listening to it. It’s like I trick myself out of my obstinacy.

I am the same way with one particular TV show too: GLEE. Everything about this show, in theory, points to my becoming a Glee groupie - or whatever they call them. (Gleeks?) But I refuse to watch it because people are too freaky about it. Mind you, this is coming from someone who loves The Wire and nearly physically accosts anyone who hasn’t seen it.

I’m a complex creature, what can I say.

  3. andricon answered: I still haven’t listened to the new Arcade Fire for this very reason.
  4. iamdavidbrothers answered: Yep. Frank Ocean does good R&B, Tyler does good shocking rap, and Hodgy is dope. Grab nostalgia/ultra and Blackendwhite. Both free.
